2011 Texas State Under 19 Rugby Champions, Alliance Rugby Club Black Knights

Over the weekend of 16-17 April, Alliance Rugby Club Varsity side played in the 2011 Texas State High School Rugby Championships at Strake Jesuit Preparatory School in Houston. Alliance’s first match of the weekend was the semi final against Katy, a team they had beaten 2 weeks earlier in Katy. At the time Katy was ranked 14^th. Final score of the semi final, Alliance 24, Katy 21.

The championship match was held the next day, April 17^th and pitted Alliance against The Woodlands who were nationally ranked at #7. The first half saw the lead see saw back and forth between both sides but in the second half, Alliance started pulling away and finished with the win, 37-24! The side travels to Austin, TX for the Western Regional tournament on 30 Apr-1 May and with a win there, will travel to Sandy, UT to compete for the national title on 20-21 May.

This is Alliance’s 3^rd state title in 5 years. Alliance is a 501C3 sporting club with youth coed players from ages 6-19 and from school districts throughout the North Tarrant county area. The club also features an adult social side. For more information, visit their web site: www.alliancerugby.org
